HCM CITY — A music and art programme will light up HCM City's Nguyễn Huệ walking street every weekday from 5.30pm to 11pm.
A fountain worth VNĐ23 billion (US$992,000) at the Nguyễn Huệ-Lê Lợi intersection has been functioning since the end of October. Shaped as a glass lotus flower with surrounding sprinklers, it symbolises people’s solidarity in developing the city and taking it to greater heights, authorities said.
More facelifts are planned for the wide pedestrian area of the boulevard in the coming time, including lighting of the entire street. Việt Nam’s first walking street is 670 metres long and 64 metres wide.
