HÀ NỘI — Earlier this month, FLC Group submitted a proposal to the municipal People’s Committee to build a large-scale stadium, entertainment and golf course complex in one of the capital city of Hà Nội’s suburban areas such as Đông Anh, Mê Linh or Sóc Sơn.
The first phase would have an expected investment of VNĐ25 trillion (US$1.07 billion) and would include a 100,000 seat stadium which could host big international tournaments. The plan is to build the biggest and most modern stadium in the world, said Lê Thành Vinh, FLC’s deputy general director.
The group also proposed building golf courses, a Formula 1 racing track, five-star hotels and resorts, an international convention centre, trade centre, hospital, theme park and a shopping area.
The total area of the project would be between 1,000 and 2,000ha.
If approved, all of the project would be invested and operated by FLC Group.
FLC said the construction would be planned in collaboration with the transport and technical infrastructure of neighbouring areas, especially Nội Bài International Airport.
If the municipal People’s Committee approves the proposal and settles on a suitable location, FLC Group would try to complete the project in the possible shortest time, helping to make the capital into one of the most impressive tourism cities in Asia, Vinh said. — VNS
