Reference Exchange Rate Opens Week Down

The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 22,996 VND/USD on April 22, down 2 VND from the last working day of the previous week (April 19).

With the current trading band of +/- 3 percent, the ceiling rate applied by commercial banks for the day is 23,685 VND/USD and the floor rate is 22,306 VND/USD.

The opening hour rates at commercial banks saw slight rise.

As of 8:15 am, Vietcombank and BIDV listed the buying rate at 23,155 VND/USD and the selling rate at 23,255 VND/USD, both up by 5 VND.

Techcombank raised both rates by 15 VND to 23,145 VND per USD (buying) and 23,265 VND/USD (selling).

During the week from April 16 to April 19 (April 15 was a holiday), the daily reference exchange rate was adjusted down on two days and up on two days. Overall, the rate gained 8 VND during the week.

The rates at commercial banks stayed stable throughout the week.
