The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 23,247 VND per USD on May 4, down 10 VND from the last working day before the holiday (April 29).
With the current trading band of/-3 percent, the ceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is 23,944 VND/USD and the floor rate 22,549 VND/USD.
The opening hour rates at some commercial banks increased.
At 8:25am, the BIDV listed the buying rate at 23,335 VND/USD and the selling rate at 23,515 VND/USD, both up 5 VND from April 29.
Techcombank added 16 VND to both rates, listing the buying rate at 23,325 VND/USD, and the selling rate at 23,525 VND/USD.
Meanwhile, the rates listed by Vietcombank stayed unchanged at 23,300 VND/USD (buying), and 23,510 VND/USD (selling)./.
