Mirae Asset Finance Vietnam donated VND273 million (US$11,650) to the Saigon Times-Noi Vong Tay Lon programme on April 24 to lend a helping hand to disadvantaged people who have been severely affected by the coronavirus.
Of the total, VND150 million came from the company’s budget and VND123 million was contributed by its employees.
The Saigon Times-Noi Vong Tay Lon programme is an initiative of The Saigon Times Group that aims to help mitigate the difficulties faced by poor families and people who have lost their jobs during the pandemic.
In addition to VND273 million donated by Mirae Asset Finance Vietnam, the programme has received donations amounting to VND250 million from many generous individuals and companies since the beginning of April, including Vinamit JSC, An Cuong Wood Working JSC and Yuanta Securities Vietnam.
The programme has provided one tonne of rice for charity meal providers Nu Cuoi 7 and Bep Vui Ve, as well as 750 gift sets containing rice and necessities to workers who were forced to leave their jobs in HCM City’s districts 9, Binh Thanh and Thu Duc.
Most recently, it donated rice to 280 poor people in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap on April 23 and 50 gift sets to the needy in Can Tho City on April 24.
