Manulife Vietnam, the largest life insurance firm in Vietnam in terms of charter capital, was recently named one of the ‘Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2019′ by HR Asia, Asia’s most authoritative publication for human resources (HR) professionals.
As more and more Millennials join the workforce, employers such as Manulife are finding ways to embrace the demographic shift internally and better adapt to a new generation of workers.
Dubbed the “March of the Millennials”, the transformation will result in the demographic becoming one of the largest adult sectors of the population and workforce.
Manulife is now one of the most preferred places to work for millennials in the local life insurance industry, making up over 60 per cent of employees at the digital and customer-centric insurer.
The transformation to a millennial-oriented organisation has been largely driven by the appeal of Manulife as an employer of choice and leader in the field of digital and customer innovation.
Dam Xuan Thuy, head of Human Resources at Manulife Vietnam, said the digital and customer-centric transformation already taking place at Manulife was helping them embrace this demographic shift.
“At Manulife Vietnam, we define ‘people’ as key to the success of our company and that’s why we are continuously investing in their development and the overall employee experience,” said Thuy.
“As we continue to transform the organisation, we are finding that the millennial influence is also helping us redefine and reinvigorate our digital and customer focus.”
Millennials are one of the most connected generations ever, but research shows they are also career-driven, passionate about meaningful work and empowerment, and want an employer who fosters productivity, innovation, and community.
The startup-style culture at Manulife is not only reflected in how the organisation works and drives innovation, but also in how employees rate their working experience.
“Insurers are traditionally known as old, irrelevant, and slow, but we are shaking up that image by creating a working environment that’s agile, innovative, customer-centric and celebrates digital-driven solutions,” added Thuy. “We are honoured to be named as one of the Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2019 and feel it reflects the passion, satisfaction, and high engagement levels of all our employees.”
The highly prestigious award from HR Asia recognises the accomplishments in providing extraordinary people experiences through a company’s working environment, HR practices, employee learning, benefits, and overall job satisfaction.
