HDBank Wins Best Green Credit Financing Award

HDBank has been named the bank with the best green credit financing and the best customer service in 2019 by Vietnam Economics Times.

The awards are based on surveys of readers of the newspaper on products, service quality, safety, payment methods and others.

From January to October, the newspaper received over 35,000 votes and online feedback from 82,300 people on more than 7,600 nominated products and services.

Green banking is HDBank’s strategic goal of which green credit is the current trend.

HDBank is a pioneer in providing credit to renewable energy and high-tech agricultural projects.

As of September 30, it had earmarked nearly VND10 trillion (US$431.43 million) to finance commercial solar power projects and rooftop solar.

Through the green credit programme, HDBank provides customers with the best financial solutions, helping promote renewables, drastically reducing on-grid electricity consumption, reducing pollution, and contributing to national energy security and sustainable development.

It has also set aside VND10 trillion for hi-tech and clean agriculture.

In September this year, HDBank became the first member bank of the Asian Development Bank to receive the ‘Green Deal Award’ for its outstanding achievements in the ADB’s Trade Finance Programme.

For its outstanding performance, the bank was recognised as having the best customer service. Over the years, HDBank has been honoured with prestigious awards by renowned magazines such as euro Money and Asia Money.

HDBank reported impressive results for the third quarter, with pre-tax profits increasing by a record 51 per cent year-on-year.

In the first nine months, consolidated pre-tax profit was nearly VND3.45 trillion ($151.1 million), its highest quarterly profit ever.

Its return on equity and return on assets were 20.2 per cent and 1.7 per cent, among the highest of any listed bank.

Its net interest margin increased sharply to 4.6 per cent, which places it among the top three listed banks.

Its asset quality continued to outperform the industry with bad debts of only 1.1 per cent.
