FWD Vietnam Life Insurance Company (FWD) has officially announced its sponsorship for Phan Thanh Nhien to join the FWD North Pole Marathon 2019 to take place on April 9.
Nhien will be the only Vietnamese athlete to conquer the 42-kilometre range, the most extreme race on the planet, with the spirit of breaking his limits, expanding his world and writing his own history.
Nhien’s spirit and determination when joining the race will also contribute to fundraising donations for prosthetics in Vietnam.
Vuong My Phung, deputy general director of FWD Vietnam’s Marketing and Brand Strategy, said: “FWD is very proud to continue to accompany a challenging and unique race such as the FWD North Pole Marathon. The race is an opportunity for us to inspire people to pursue passion and boldly explore their limits.”
Nhien was one of the first three as well as the youngest Vietnamese who successfully conquered Mount Everest in 2008.
Nhien said: “I always aspire to conquer the biggest challenges, such as the FWD North Pole Marathon. This race is an opportunity for me to prove that human ability is limitless. In addition to breaking my limits, my greatest desire in this race is the support of the community, accompanying the footsteps of those who aspire to go forward and open their wider world.”
Nhien and FWD will call for the community to raise funds presenting prosthetics legs to the less fortunate in Vietnam to help them confidently move forward and open their wider world.
FWD North Pole Marathon is held every year in the northernmost part of the earth and is the coldest marathon in the world, bringing harsh challenges and unforgettable experiences for attendees.
The race represents FWD’s strong commitment to helping people overcome their limits. At this world’s coldest race, selected athletes from all over the world will try to conquer the extreme cold.
