Bat Trang ceramic and pottery products, including household items, worship instruments, and fine art and handicraft articles, among others, have long been known for their high quality and design. The products made in Bat Trang Commune of Hanoi’s Gia Lam District have attracted an increasing number of customers.
Bat Trang has gained a strong reputation and is one of the few traditional craft villages in Hanoi that is prospering. It was a joint operation comprised of five famous familiesTran, Vuong, Nguyen, Le, and Pham from Thanh Hoa Province and the Nguyen family from Minh Trang. Bat Trang has now become a big and famous name in the ceramic and potter market.
While they have attracted an increasing number of customers in the domestic market and are exported to many countries and territories worldwide, Bat Trang ceramics and pottery are facing imitation problems.
Responding to the Buy Vietnamese Goods campaign and promoting Bat Trang products branding, a national programme for electronic commerce development in 2014-2020 and a digital technology project for craft village branding (Project 1102) have launched a chain of 100 BatTrang Family Marts. These stores are being run by the Bat Trang Vietnam JSC, and their number is expected to grow to 500 by 2020.
BatTrang Family Marts offer consumers a reliable source and wide range of genuine Bat Trang products, including worship instruments, instruments of the science of wind and water, household appliances, decorations, construction ceramics and pottery, fine art and handicraft articles, and gifts, among others, which all carry origin and brand stamps.
The chain of marts is the first and biggest of its kind in Bat Trang, consisting of more than 200 producers. The Bat Trang Vietnam JSC has procured modern equipment and furnaces, formed production workspaces totalling almost 10,000 square meters in area, and attracted nearly 1,000 workers and more than 100 satellite production establishments to make high quality products and meet the needs of domestic consumers and export demand. It is also intended to preserve a traditional craft that goes back hundreds of years.
